What is the movie where the characters are trying to put on a play but keep messing it up somehow?

I saw this movie a long time ago and it made me laugh so hard. I don't remember much, but it seems like something mel brooks does. I also remember a boy who had to take the place of one of the actors during a play for some reason and he was so nervous he was shaking violently the whole time and messing up his lines.
