Do you think I am overreacting about this 'tsunami-themed party'?

My mom told me today that she is going to throw a party based on the tsunami in Japan and have 'free-flowing' food and drinks and tell people to wear neon colors so that they look 'radioactive.' I personally think this is insensitive and absolutely ridiculous. Real people are getting sick from radiation and dying. So I told her, I think that's pretty insensitive. And then she was like "You're being too serious, I just want to have a good time!" But I don't think I'm being too serious at all. These are peoples' lives! That's like having a Hurricane Katrina themed party. It's just not funny at all.
