Yeah, there is. I don't know what the quality of your ice rink skates are, but at many rinks, they are not sharpened. If they're sharpened correctly, sometimes it's a little harder to stop and spin as you usually do, but it helps you hold edges longer, and they should dull down in one skate enough for the stopping to not be so much of a problem
