How to make homemade icing with no cream cheese?

hello alls i was just wondering if anyone can help me out. i am making a homemade cupcake recipe and it calls for homemade icing. well all i have are those little mini creamcheese packets/tub that are like 1.5 oz. how many of those would i need? the recipe calls for 4 oz. and also, it makes12 cupcakes. is there something i can substitute the cc? (cant drive or id just not even ask this question. and dont like to bother neighbors plus hubby is at work). also, i am making black and gold icing about how many food coloring drops would i need for each one? (thanks for the one that told me bout the mcormick black food coloring!). 10 pts for best answer...GO STEELERS for any of u football fans out there.
